Swifterbant, Netherlands

Prehistoric settlements from the Neolithic dated around 4.000 BC have been found in the Noordoostpolder near the village of Swifterbant. This reclaimed area from the sea is currently around 5 meters below the sea level. The people from this culture lived on river dunes from hunting and fishing, gathering of seeds and fruits, as well as cattle farming and primitive agriculture on a small scale.
