The architect Gerrit Rietveld designed the Rietveld Schröder House in Utrecht, which was commissioned by Truus Schröder-Schräder and built in 1924. It was built according to the ideals of the group of artists De Stijl. The interior has a compact and flexible layout, on the upper floor the rooms can be rearranged into a single space by removing the walls between the rooms.
