The Piazza del Duomo, or Campo dei Miracoli, in the city of Pisa, contains the
Cathedral, the Baptistery, the Campanile ('Leaning Tower') and the Cemetery, which were built between
the 11th and 14th centuries.
The scientist Galileo Galilei (1564-1642) conducted experiments from the Leaning Tower in order to
prove that the time of descent of falling objects was independent of their mass.
