Monte San Giorgio, rising up to 1.096 meters above sea level, contains well preserved fossil remains from the Middle Triassic Period (245-230 million years ago). In this former tropical lagoon, fossils of marine and terrestrial life like sea dinosaur, fish, reptiles, invertebrates and plants can be found.
