The Benedictine monastery of Kremsmünster was founded in 777 by the Duke of Bavaria Tassilo III.
The abbey church, built in 1277, was reconstructed in the Baroque style in 1613. In 1549 the monastery school became a public school.
Currently the monastery and the school are still active.
