The town of Christiansfeld, named after King Christian VII, was founded in 1773 by the Moravian community which came from Sachsen in Germany.
The Moravian church is a Christian church, which originated in Bohemia and Moravia in the current Czech Republic, started by the priest Jan Hus (1370-1415) which became a Protestant movement.
The small town has a regular street layout with two main streets and a square. The houses are built with yellow bricks and roof tiles.
