The Bauhaus, founded in Weimar in 1919 by Walter Gropius, was an institute for art and architecture which changed the way houses were designed and built through the rationalization of building processes. It moved to Dessau in 1925, where a new school building was constructed, as well as the residential houses (Master Houses) for the masters. The Bauhaus institute was closed in 1933 due to political reasons.
